Charity Bike Ride...? #completeditmate
So as a follow on from our previous blog post... the team successfully completed their sponsored cycle ride in aid of Well Connected, a Plymouth based Community Engagement & Healthcare Charity.Unfortunately, Charlie had recently ripped a calf muscle (ouch!) and could not take part in the actual ride, but did drive a support car, enabling the team to focus on riding, rather than where the next water hit or energy bar was coming from! Edd completed the ride along with Mags Trueman (the CEO of Well Connected), Grant Simelit (Owner of Mobile Molars Dental Nursing Agency), Alice Stewart (Manager of the Wessex Specialist Dental Centre in Fareham) & Mike Fisher a Chartered Architect from Plymouth based firm, the Bailey Partnership). We want to extend a massive thank you to these guys for taking part - it was all the more appreciated after some people dropped out at the last minute for a variety of 'reasons.' Anyway...The team started at Okehampton Railway Station at about 11:00 and made their way along the Granite Way, taking in some majestic sights, such as Meldon Reservoir - Grant in particular was in total awe of Dartmoor National Park and will be holidaying here in future! They quickly arrived in Lydford, where Charlie was waiting with energy bars and his usual boundless enthusiasm. From there the guys cycled down through Lyford Gauge and then up the rather steep hill to the top of Brent Tor, it was a beautiful day, so everyone got a good view of one of the oldest Churches in the country, on top of the Tor.Next was Tavistock for a water refill and more energy bars, before another incline via Drakes Trail to Yelverton - lunchtime followed, thanks Charlie very generous...Finally, the formidable Peloton descended into Plymouth, cycling along the Barbican before arriving in Royal William Yard to a welcoming party of the magnificent Wendy Sheard (MBE), Karen, her daughter and even Eoghan Grace managed to finally show his face... only joking Gracey, but we had to get that one in there mate!Celebrations followed, along with a much needed intoxicating beverage in Seco Lounge, basking in the delightful Plymouth evening Sun - paradise! How much did we raise? £800! What an amazing effort by the team!Same again next year?! You bet...
